Blogger WidgetsHow to say no to smoke

We know that cigarettes are addictive, cause cancer and cost a lot of money. But still it is tough to say no when you get pressure and stimulation to smoke from family, friends, ads and movies. Let’s discuss how to say no to smoke.

When you get pressure and inspiration from friends………….

  • It may seem like everyone smokes. But trust me; only about one out of five teen’s smoke.
  • You can decide not to smoke. Here`s how to say no if you are getting pressure from friends….

Don`t make a big deal of it. Just say “no thanks, I don`t smoke”.
If you are still getting pressured, say, “I have really decided. I don`t like how it smells”.
If you act confident, they will respect you and stop pressuring you.

When you get pressure and inspiration from movies………….

  • Actors may look cool when they smoke but smoking to look good is a killer myth.

  • Movies don’t show actors coughing or brushing their teeth before a kissing scene. They don’t show how easy it is to become addicted or to get lung cancer.
  • Base your decision not to smoke on what you know-not what you see on a movie scene.

When you get pressure and inspiration from advertising……….

  •  Ads affect everyone. Even if you don’t want to smoke, ads can tempt you to try it

  •  Tobacco ads try to convince people to smoke so tobacco companies can make more money.
  • Don’t let tobacco companies or their ads manipulate you into smoking.

When you get pressure and inspiration from your inside………….

  • You might wonder what smoking is like or what you would look like holding a cigarette. Maybe you think smoking will help you to lose weight.

  •  Smoking can`t change who you are. And it’s not a good way to control weight. People who smoke to feel better about them often end up feeling worse.

  •  Instead of smoking, think about what you can do to feel good about yourself.

  •  If you are in depression try to overcome it, spend time doing activities you enjoy. Hang out with friends, family, listen to music or play a sport.

When you get pressure and inspiration from your family……………

  •  If you grew up around smokers, smoking might seem OK. But most adults who smoke wish they could quit.

  •  Even adults of the family who smoke, don’t want to see younger’s smoking.

When you get pressure from stress………….

  •  You get stressed. Maybe you have thought about smoking as a way to deal with stress.

  • Smoking won`t make stress go away. In fact, it raises your blood pressure and makes your heart beat faster. You will feel even more stressed.

  •  Instead, deal with stress by talking over problems with a friend or getting some exercise.

Saying no to smoking is a great way to take care of yourself and your future.
